Network and systems administrator
for the ASIM/CIDDS intrusion detection computer system.
Operates, maintains and configures the site sensors, directors, and
VPNs as a member of the ASIM Technical Operations (ATO) section.

Provides technical support of
intrusion detection systems (IDS), CIDDS, and related VPN and Computer
Database System (CDS) related system administration and operations, and assists in the
conduct of the daily private key management.
Supports the IDS software installation and configuration, daily site
troubleshooting, system security, archival, and restoration of mission
critical data. Identifies network
configuration problems, vulnerabilities, and sub-nets that may be unprotected
by the intrusion detection tools (IDT) and provides suggestions for remedies.

Conducts network security
monitoring and intrusion detection analysis using the Air Force’s selected
IDT. Analyzes batch and real-time
network data to assess the security posture of USAF computer networks.
Defends over 170 sites deployed worldwide against electronic attack,
alerting on suspicious activity, which could indicate an intruder attempting
unauthorized activity.

Performs incident response
notification to include coordinating response operations with AFOSI, analyzing
data for follow-on reporting and operations, and interfacing with other DoD
agencies. Assists USAF personnel
in assessing and reporting command, control, communications, and computer
systems vulnerabilities.

Advises operational customers on
proper system configurations, technical countermeasures, system
vulnerabilities and appropriate countermeasures to those vulnerabilities.

Help
desk manager responsible for supervising twelve help desk technicians who
analyzed, solved, and documented 15,000 field users' problems and requests for
the Oracle-based Air Force military personnel database using Help Expert
Automation Tool (HEAT) and REMEDY software programs
